You decide. Are women leaders – admittedly of smaller size countries than United States – doing a notable job of leadership in the Covid-19 crisis? In Germany, Taiwan, New Zealand, Iceland, Finland, Norway, and Denmark, women are wielding power with boldness and innovation during this unprecedented time of crisis as we grapple with Covid-19. Their values are truth, decisiveness, action, and caring.

We used to visualize heroes as men and women wearing capes with or without masks. Today’s heroes may not wear capes, but they definitely wear masks. Among today’s heroes are: doctors, nurses, and aids sacrificing well being to valiantly save the lives of those attacked by the evil corona virus. Heroes fly into present action rather than weighing themselves down with fear of the future. We must learn from them.

Usually I go to movies in the company of others. I enjoy the energy soup of an audience – hearing the collective gasps, chuckles, and sighs as part of surround sound. I choose companions like you who enjoy discussing the film experience afterwards. Part of the fun is sharing and comparing our opinions and the unique effect the story has on us. Since the corona virus changed our lives we’re now watching movies at home in isolation. I still have my popcorn, opinions, and feelings – but it’s not the same. I miss you.

Each time we turn on the news we’re assaulted by statistics about the corona virus. This blog is about the other spring fever – the one that’s defined as an increase in energy, vitality, and joy – a feeling of renewal associated with the end of winter.

Spring fever 2020 is not the spring fever of the past. With the Coronavirus dominating our awareness, 2020 has the feel of fear. We’re asked – no told – to stop personal interactive activities – to be selfless, careful, and considerate. Can we listen? Can we quell fear of the future, for the gift of time to enjoy the present? Nature’s signals are all about renewal. Are we listening?
