Does this ever happen to you? You come into a room for a reason, but can’t remember why. You see a familiar face across a room, but the person’s name eludes you. You put something “in a good place” and its location remains a mystery. Sixty percent of people worldwide believe incorrectly that lapses in memory are an inevitable part of aging. The good news is there’s more information than ever about staving off forgetfulness. Our brain simply needs us to work it!

Do we dare engage in this contentious subject? How can we not? The lens of the Supreme Court is finally focused on power by way of the Brett Kavanaugh hearings. We see it in the form of accusation, denial, conflicting recall, and investigation. This is our opportunity to learn where our trust has boundaries; where we tighten tolerance; how influenced we are by what and how people say things; and how we form opinions when we will never be sure of the truth.

Recently sitting next to me on a flight was a passenger with his therapy animal. No, it wasn’t a dog or a cat. I watched with curiosity as he took a hen out of the jiggling carrying case under his seat. Murmuring into its feathery neck, he cuddled it tenderly to his chest. The two appeared to relax one another, and when John introduced himself and Chicken Little, it was an easy leap to understand that John was a traveler fearful the sky would fall and CL was there to “allay” his fears.

You never know when time will become timeless. Today I took a commuter train to New York for a brief, but important meeting. Usually I drive to the city, but fortunately I chose the train this morning. During my return trip Bella settled into the seat next to me and cleared her throat. She began a 47-minute monologue that can only happen with a stranger whose life will touch yours just once.

Most of us have an interdependent relationship with our Macs or PCs. Should we think about our bodies that way? Our bodies are the computers we reside in during this adventure we call life.  They provide the recognizable appearance and function of our names. So?
